Nick works second shift; he usually gets home around midnight and I'm generally up so I can see him for a bit. He spends a few hours unwinding and working on the computer. I try to make sure I'm in bed before 1:30am becuase the boys wake up around 9am. I had no reason to expect Thanksgiving to be any different just because Nick had the day off from work.
The Amazing Flying Child played on the floor while I literally threw together the quiche from memory. I put some butter in my quiche plate and put it on the back burner (the one that has the oven vent in it), and turned the oven on to preheat. This melted the butter and greased the plate for me! Then, from memory (I'm proud that I was able to do it from memory and that it came out better than the last time I made it, so bear with my happiness) I mixed the eggs, sour cream, yougurt, onion, bacon and flour in a bowl. I used 7 eggs this time and about 1/4 cup sour cream with 3/4 cup yogurt, and 1/2 cup flour. I poured it into the plate and topped it with a light cheese crust. Then I baked it.
While the quiche baked I got cleaned up and ready for the day ("Thing 2" was having his mid-morning nap). Ladies' Morning Abolutions, etc. I was ready just before the quiche came out of the oven. By then "Thing 1" was awake and bouncing. I woke Nick up and severed the quiche. It was a glorious beginning to an amazing day!
