The Final Days

Here are some random cute pictures to take up space!
I think I've been a week without a post, maybe two?  There are several reasons.  I was having some strong contractions last week, and we thought the baby was coming.  So all of last week was kind of tense and then somewhat of a let-down.  The frustrating part is that I don't actually expect the baby to come for another week and a half.  I just know myself well enough to know that we've got some time left.  Besides, I determined that the contractions last week were due in part to the coffee that I had been drinking.  Apparently even decaf coffee has enough caffeine in it to have some effect.

Then I got a little sick.  Very bad timing.  And to help the infection go away I've had to cut out anything and everything that my body could remotely turn into sugar.  So no pasta, potatoes, bread, fruit or juice, and even some dairy products.  The up side is that I'm left on roughly the same diet that Nick is on, so I'm not cooking two menus at each meal.  The down side is that I'm about two shades of crazy with a sugar/carb withdraw (only two shades because I let myself have a piece of chocolate cake when we went out for lunch today).

Proof that they can co-exist peacefully, and even share things!
Anyway, I had been getting a post ready about all of the different ways I've been doing fried noodles and vegetables for dinner, when my diet changed.  Now I'm doing fried rice with vegetables twice a day, and I haven't had the umph to document it.  But I'm getting used to the routine of making rice every day.  And I've found some rice recipes on Pintrest that I want to try, once we've been shopping.

And after all of that I've become dead tired this week.  I think my body is trying to get some extra rest and or energy before gearing up for labor.  It's been a while since I've actually fallen asleep during afternoon naps, but I have been this week.  And I can tell that the baby is changing position because I've started hurting in different places.  It's become a bit more difficult to move around.

(Insert appropriate, over-used cliches about how fast children grow up.)
That's why I haven't been writing.  And I don't think I'll be writing for a few weeks after the baby is born.  I certainly won't be cooking; our church is lined up to supply meals for at least the first week or two.  Nick will still be working some ridiculous hours and most likely won't be up to cooking or writing, either.  So, I apologize in advance for the blackout that is coming.  But after I'm back on my feet I plan on cooking a lot of pumpkin based pastries!
